Spa Day at Home

spa day with essential oils This month we have talked a lot about skin care and how to nourish your skin, protect your skin and heal your skin. Today, I want to talk about creating a spa experience in your own home. For many of us, finding the time and maybe the money to spend the day at the spa isn’t always feasible. Plus, I have also found that as well-intentioned as most spa’s are, they don’t always use the best products as far as natural and safe for our skin. When you create a spa at home, you can spoil yourself anytime and ensure that you are getting the very best quality products for your skin. Start with a detox bath The best way to get your spa experience started off right is with a detox bath. You can read all the details and ideas of doing this for yourself or your children in my blog article HERE. Exfoliate After getting in a good soak, as the water is draining from the tub, take a few minutes to scrub your body down with a good salt or sugar scrub. You can make your own using your favorite essential oils and other ingredients from your pantry, using some of these yummy skin care recipes. Once you have scrubbed yourself down, quickly rinse your body with cool water from your shower and then towel dry. Restore the Moisture Hopefully you have a thick cream or body butter that you’ve made using other favorite essential oils or you can find one HERE in these toxin-free recipes. The body butter suggested is fabulous and very rich to help plump out your skin cells as your restore the moisture. Focus on your hair Either before your detox bath or after, choose one of THESE five hair care recipes to pamper your locks. It’s a great way to give your hair extra nourishment that you probably don’t have time for during your regular daily routines. Rehydrate Drinking plenty of water is always important, but jazz up your water with one of these Water Infused blends found HERE. You will really feel like you are at the spa with one of these refreshing drinks! Relax and be Mindful As you wind down your spa experience, take some time to put your feet up, relax and practice being in the moment. You can check out these mindful tips and essential oil suggestions to diffuse while you meditate in this article HERE. Clear your mind of the daily stress and just enjoy the sounds, sights and smells around you. Taking the time to pamper yourself and relax at the spa doesn’t have to cost a lot or take a lot of time. It can be organized as simple or as complex as you need it to be, but finding the time to make it a priority will do wonders for you.
