Summer is here and what better time could there be to give your skin the care it needs! A few simple detox ideas and other tips will have your skin glowing and looking better than ever.
Amp up the Water
Water is always important, but often we can get busy and forget to drink as much as we should. This puts added stress on our organs, especially for flushing toxins from our body. For the first week, make a goal to drink more. You should be drinking half of you body weight in ounces. Drink it at room temperature and be sure your water is pure. You can also add a drop of lemon oil for added detox power
and to help flush the toxins from your body.
Cut out the junk
Junk food seems to be everywhere and we can often fall into the trap of eating without thinking what we are doing to our bodies. Take a week and stay away from foods like an excess of animal fats, white starchy foods, sugar and dairy. Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Do a Citrus Steam
Pour hot water into a bowl and add several drops of your favorite citrus essential oil
. Soak a hand towel in the water and drape it over your face. Lie down and allow the steam to open your pores. Follow it up with a warm shower and a good cleanser. Also be sure to drink plenty of water afterwards to flush the toxins that have been pulled out.
Try Dry Brushing
Dry brushing your skin is a great way to detox all of your skin. Use a brush designed for dry brushing and brush it in a circular motion over all your body. Start at your feet and work up. Follow it up with a warm shower. Not only will this help in detoxing your skin but it will also improve circulation.
Take a Detox Bath
Draw yourself a hot bath with Epsom salts, a cup of unfiltered apple cider vinegar and a few drops of your favorite essential oil. These will draw dirt and other toxins out of your pores, helping your skin to start fresh. A few favorite essential oils to add are Calming Blend, Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang.
