So often we don’t really think about what is in the products we put on our skin. It isn’t in our mouth, so it isn’t hurting us, right? Nothing could be further from the truth. Our skin is our largest organ and everything that goes on our skin goes into our skin. It has been said that our skin care products should be healthy enough to eat so I figured a few recipes using all edible products might be kind of fun! I don’t think I’ll be serving the up for lunch anytime soon, but they will certainly be yummy to wear!
Minty Lime Foot Soak
- 2 c. Epsom Salt
- 1 c. Baking Soda
- 5 drops Lime Essential Oil
- 4 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
Mix all four ingredients together and store in an airtight jar or bag. Add a healthy scoop to hot water for a relaxing foot soak.
- 1 c. Oats (ground into a powder)
- ¼ c. brown sugar
- 1 T. baking soda
- ¼ c. coconut oil (in liquid form)
- 3 drops Onguard Essential Oil
Mix all ingredients together and store in an airtight jar or bag. Scoop a small portion out and rub on your hands or whole body to exfoliate. This is great to open up the pores and supports your immune system at the same time.
Avocado Face Mask
½ fully ripened avocado
1 T. plain yogurt
1 T. honey
Mash the avocado and mix in the yogurt and honey. Rub into face and let sit for about 40 minutes. Rinse well with warm water and then dab a cotton ball with several drops of rosemary. Gently rub the cotton ball over your face in circular, upwards motions to tighten up the skin.
Pumpkin Spice Body Scrub
(who says pumpkin can only appear in the fall?)
- ½ c. Pumpkin puree
- ½ c. Coconut oil
- 1 c. Brown Sugar
- 5 drops cinnamon
- 3 drops clove
Mix these together for another body scrub option. Pumpkin is rich in Vitamin A.
Mint Chocolate Chip Lip Gloss
- 2 T. Coconut oil
- 2 T. Vitamin E oil
- 2 T. Cocoa Butter
- 5 drops peppermint oil
- ⅛ c. Semi-sweet chocolate chips
melt the coconut oil, cocoa butter and chocolate chips in a double broiler on medium. Let cool a bit and then stir in the Vitamin E and Peppermint oil. Place in small lip glass bottles. Makes about 6. Keep in a cool location.
