You've probably noticed before how quickly something that smells bad in your trash can will take over the smell of the whole room. A clean kitchen can quickly smell a bit off with odor coming from your trash! We've put together a few ideas to help you battle your trash can odor and do it with natural solutions and no harsh chemicals or synthetic scents.
How about some easy and natural ways to fight off that odor? These simple hacks will leave your rooms smelling better and fresher!
1. Baking Soda
Baking soda is a great way to absorb odors and keep things smelling fresh. Just like an open box of baking soda is good in your refrigerator, it can work well in your garbages. When you place a new liner in, simply sprinkle some baking soda in the bottom and let the trash fill up! You'll hardly notice its there.
2. Essential Oils
Essential oils are a great way to replace a bad odor with a fresh one. Citrus oils are great, as well as cinnamon or cassia. You can even combine a few drops of oil with the baking soda when you drop it in.
3. Garbage Can Odor Tablets
This recipe is great to make a bunch of them at once and just add one or two at a time. These are great for the kitchen, bathrooms, etc.
GARBAGE CAN ODOR TABLETS
2 cups baking soda
1 cup Epsom salts
¼ cup water
10 drops lemon essential oil
5 drops peppermint essential oil
Ice cube tray
Combine dry ingredients. Slowly add water, then oils, and stir. Using a spoon, transfer mixture into the ice cube tray without overfilling the tray. Allow to dry overnight or until hardened. Place one to two tablets in the bottom of your garbage can and store the rest in an airtight container. Replace tablets as needed.
In conclusion, taking a few moments to prepare your trash cans will go a long way in keeping your home smelling great!
